We are pleased to introduce iHealth™, your new comprehensive wellness education program. To answer any questions you may have and to let you know what to expect, we have prepared this “Frequently Asked Questions” sheet to explain this exciting new wellness benefit.
What is iHealth™?
The iHealth™ program is a wellness education program that is part of your medical benefits and designed to provide useful, pertinent and reliable information for the purpose of pro-actively improving your overall health status. It is well known that early intervention in diseases such as cancer, diabetes and heart disease will significantly improve your health and lower your health care costs. Many of the most costly and deadly illnesses known today are either preventable through education and life-style change, or curable with early detection.
What is the goal of the iHealth™ program?
To encourage healthier lifestyles, increase your awareness of personal health and to help prevent long-term complications from unmanaged health conditions.
What can I expect from iHealth™?
Wellness Guidelines – You will receive in the mail a brochure entitled "Wellness Guidelines & Recommended Immunizations' each year. This brochure outlines nationally recommended tests for good health, immunization guidelines and cancer prevention, based on age and gender.
Customized Wellness Letters – You may receive a letter stating that you may be due for one of the wellness screening tests, based on medical claims submitted by your Doctor. Screening tests include Annual Wellness Exam, Cholesterol, Mammography, PSA , Pap Smear and Colonoscopy.
***Always consult your Doctor to see what tests are right for you.***
Newsletters – You will receive the iHealth™ Newsletters throughout the year, which include seasonal health information and will emphasize the management of important, common medical problems.
Are all the tests in the Wellness Guidelines covered by my benefits?
Check your plan document and with your benefits department to verify coverage of wellness tests.
Will an iHealth™ Nurse call me?
If you have been diagnosed with one or more of the five specific health conditions (Asthma, Hypertension, High Cholesterol, Diabetes or Coronary Artery Disease), you will be contacted by phone, letter or e-mail by an iHealth™ Registered Nurse, who will offer customized education and counseling. Follow-up calls will be scheduled on a routine basis.
How will the iHealth™ Nurse get my phone number?
Your employer provides phone numbers to iHealth™, since iHealth™ is part of your health plan. If you are identified as having one or more of the 5 health conditions that iHealth™ manages, the iHealth™ Nurses will follow-up with you and provide customized counseling and other relevant resources.
Who sees the information obtained by the iHealth™ Nurse?
The information obtained by the iHealth™ Nurses remains confidential and is not shared with your employer. This information is used to follow your progress and to provide additional health information and education.
What if I do not want to participate?
Simply tell the nurse when she calls and she will take you out of the calling system.
Who should I call if I have questions?
Please contact your Benefits Department with any questions regarding your medical health benefits.
